Jokes, Comic
Stories, & Anecdotes
Jokes, Comic Stories &
Anecdotes make a good ending for a speech. If your uncomfortable with
telling jokes try out each of your jokes with a friend who will not be
at the wedding to see if it sounds funny the way you tell it. What to
do when writing an ending to a speech:
Find a
joke..
There are many books of
quotations and joke books available on the market which provide
valuable resources. Humorous books related to your subject can be
useful as well.
Ask friends, speech
writers and speech givers. When constructing a funny story remember
that one of the elements of humor in the punch line is surprise, going
suddenly from the inspiring to the ridiculous, from excitement to
despair, from discovery of misfortune to self centered concern about
some minor problem.
Changing
Clichés
To create an original
clichés with well known phrases and sayings can be contrasted with
others which contradict them. To be sure of surprise and originality
adapt the joke to a new locality or profession, or find a hilarious
story based on a situation from real life.
You Should
Avoid:
At a wedding you should
not discuss sex, politics, or religion. Doing so may result in a
quarrel or give offense by causing people with opposing views to
disagree, insult each other, or try to convert each other. Sexual
references might give offence. As a general rule, avoid
unintentionally offending friends or potential friends, but instead
flatter or compliment them. Since you don't know everybody on both
sides of the guest list ensure that you avoid these subjects
