Best Man who is also Father of the
Groom
If I could have your attention, I’d like to toast a
story-book couple. Before I begin, we want you all to
know how much we appreciate your presence on this
momentous occasion. To Drew and Linda, my wife Terri
and I could not be any more proud or pleased with our
new daughter-in-law. Jennie is a princess. She’s
beautiful and talented, but, more importantly, she has a
warm and loving heart. She’s wonderful in every way.
Looking at you two, it’s easy to see where she gets it.
And it’s no wonder Kent fell for her completely, the
moment he saw her.
This story-book courtship began at Zeus,
a gala Mardi Gras celebration. One glance at each other
from across the room and Kent and Jennie knew they would
be together always. They are made for each other.
Kent, for example, hates to wait. Jennie is a woman of
action, too. Once Kent had the ring in his hand, he
couldn’t wait another minute to propose and Jennie was
ready and waiting. Kent created yet another story-book
setting – his signature chicken pasta dinner, complete
with flowers and wine. Would you believe he even made
us upgrade the chandelier, just so he could dim the
lights?
With the stage perfectly set, Kent
recited an original, epic poem. Jennie was moved to
tears, they both were for a moment, but in a sign of
their compatibility – Jennie, the woman of action,
interrupted Kent to close the deal, with a question of
her own “Kent, are you asking me to marry you?” You
see, they were already moving as one. Not a moment to
spare, for either of them. Patience, Kent, the day is
almost here. Poor guy, he’s been trying to get her to
say “I do” all day.
We tease him, but we love him. Kent has
brought joy to our lives since the day he was born -
creating fun for everyone, wherever he goes. And now,
he has a kindred spirit. It’s been non-stop fun and
laughter for them since the day they met, and isn’t that
the way it should be?
It is said that “A joy that’s shared is a
joy made double”. Look at these two, their joy isn’t
just doubled, it is quadrupled. We see how happy they
are, and we know they will share that happiness
forever. Kent, and Jennie, you have it all – and that
makes those of us who love you very happy, too.
Remember this sparkle in each others’ eyes, and keep it
alive always! May you know love, happiness, and
success, with children who are as wonderful as you have
been for us!
To Kent and Jennie – the story-book
couple, may they live happily ever after!
