Nine to Twelve Months
before the Wedding
Choose the date and time of wedding.
Reserve the ceremony location.
Look into a location for the reception and
make reservations.
Establish a wedding budget with fiancé
(and parents, they are involved).
Visit clergy or judge concerning Wedding.
Select attendants and ushers.
Begin putting together brides and
grooms bride list.
Establish a theme and color scheme for the
wedding.
Shop for and order bridal gown and
headpiece.
Choose attendants attire and
accessories.
Choose musicians for the ceremony, make
reservations.
Choose musician or DJ for the reception,
make reservations.
Look into caterer for reception.
Select establishment for bridal registry.
Register for china, flatware and glassware
patterns and other home accessories.
Decide whether dancing, music, or
entertainment will be necessary at the rehearsal dinner and/or attendants party and make
reservations.
Six to Nine Months before
the Wedding
Contact florist to reserve date.
Order invitations and announcements.
Choose photographer and videographer, make
reservations.
Order wedding rings.
Discuss honeymoon ideas and consult travel
agent.
Plan and arrange special transportation or
limousine service for wedding party.
Plan for transportation to the ceremony
reception for out-of-town guests.
Two to Four Months before
the Wedding
Order wedding flowers. (Take swatches of
attendants dresses and picture/sketch of bridal gown.)
Finish your wedding guest lists.
Address invitations and announcements.
Shop for trousseau.
Order wedding favors.
Purchase gifts for attendants and ushers.
Purchase wedding accessories
toasting goblets, guest book, garter, cake knife, and server.
Order your wedding cake (if not provided
by caterer).
Confirm rehearsal date and time.
Choose rehearsal dinner location and time,
check on reservations.
Plan lodging for out-of-town guests (and
attendants).
Have the groom and groomsmen fitted and
order tuxedos.
Select music, discuss and submit requests
to musicians and/or DJs for the ceremony and reception.
Have wedding portrait taken.
Finalize details with caterer/reception
hall.
Confirm delivery date of your wedding
gown.
Make appointment for blood tests (if
required).
Finalize Plans for the honeymoon.
Four to Six Weeks before
the Wedding
Mail invitations
Have final fitting of gown and headpiece.
Finalize last minute details with
caterer/reception hall.
Meet with photographer and videographer to
discuss details/submit requests.
Pick up wedding rings.
Purchase Brides gift.
Purchase Grooms gift.
Meet with florist to review order.
Make plans with attendants luncheon
or party.
Arrange seating chart for reception.
Write and send thank you notes for shower
gifts/wedding gifts as they arrive.
Send announcement to local newspapers.
Make hairdresser appointment.
Take formal bridal portraits.
Address wedding announcements to be mailed
on your wedding day.
Two Weeks before the
Wedding
Make final checks and payments with
clergy/judge, musicians/DJs, organists/soloists, photographer, videographer, travel
agent, caterer/reception hall and limousines.
Make final checks and payments with
florist; confirm delivery locations and times.
Obtain marriage license with fiancé.
Begin to make any necessary name changes
on bank accounts, social security card, and/or any other official documents.
Contact guests who have not responded to
the invitation.
Finalize guest reception seating chart.
Pick up wedding favors.
One Week before the
Wedding
Give final guest count to
caterer/reception hall.
Give and attend attendants
party/luncheon.
Arrange transportation for guests and
attendants arriving at airports.
Conduct ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal
dinner.
Give gifts to attendants at rehearsal
dinner.
Prepare and confirm honeymoon travel
plans.
On the Wedding Day!
Bride goes to the hairstylist for final
beauty preparations.
Bring marriage license and wedding rings
to the ceremony.
Start dressing two hours before scheduled
photo session.
