A wedding in Jamaica should be lovely. You can certainly register for gifts, but a list of registries should not be included with the reception invitation. Instead, inform your parents and friends and let them spread the word.
To word the reception invitation, you can combine it with a wedding announcement. For instance, if your parents are issuing the reception invitation, they can say. "Mr. & Mrs. John Jones invite you to a reception in celebration of the marriage of their daughter Susan to Mr. James Smith on... at....." Follow with "Susan and James were married October 24, 2002 in Kingston, Jamaica."
If your friends choose to have a shower for you, knowing that they will not be invited to the wedding, that is fine. Traditonally, it is considered improper to invite someone to a shower who is not invited to the wedding. However, the popularity of destination weddings today is changing the way the matter is viewed.
Best wishes to you.
