Glenna,
Hi. I am getting married in less than a month.
I need help decided a song for when I come down
the isle with my father. I do not want to play classical music or the traditional "here comes the bride". I know what I want but I just can't seem to place my finger on it. Can you give me some suggestions.
thanks,
amy norfleet |

Amy, If you are thinking of something more contemporary, yet classic, that can evoke an emotional response from your guests (and dad), you might consider "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle or "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler. Another choice would be "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof.

I'm going to be walking down the isle to the processional from "The Sound of Music". All the other ideas are great too!

Hi, DJ Dennis--
You're right, the options are pretty much endless.
The only thing brides need to remember-- about processionals, most specifically-- is that tempo and length do need to be considered.
If the recessional is too fast or too slow, it can make brides more nervous and seem more awkward.
And the length of the music needs to be approximately right for the number of people who will walk in to it. It always looks bad if the music ends before the bride gets to the altar--- and it's awkward sometimes if the music lasts toooooo long after she arrives.

| I am getting married in 9 months. I have decided that my girls will walk down the aisle to Cannon in D, but I do not want to walk to the same song.....and I REFUSE to walk down to Here Comes The Bride. I am wondering if any one has any suggestions of what would be a nice complement to Cannon in D. Appreciate any feedback!!!! |

| Our wedding is January 9, 2004 and we have chosen, My Love, Sweet Love by Patti Labelle. Listen to the words and imagine seeing your future wife in her wedding gown walking towards you. Simply amazing. |

| Angela wrote: | My brother is playing acoustic guitar during the ceremony and I am going to walk down the aisle to Waste by Phish. It's beautiful. He pretty much sings all about not wanting to do anything but waste his time with me. I just have a problem because it's 3 1/2 minutes long.
Do I let the song keep playing until it's done? or do I have to make him make the song shorter? |
Best thing to do with that is do a walkdown as you would in the Church
Time it out as you would when you hear it in the church..
just make sure that is what you want to hear - if its too long then dont rush to get out, slow down or something
It may even be too short you just never know...
anyway have a nice day all |

remember its YOUR day you can have what ever you like and that is why its freedom of speech......
dont think that just because you have your family expecting "here comes the bride" that you have too - the wedding they want is how you want it to be....
since 1979 when I started as a Dj I have only played that intro 4x times
the rest of the time is what the Bride and groom pick out as that is what they wanted to hear...
anyway start looking you may not have all the time you need
have a nice day |

I used a wedding composer (afetr a recomendation from a friend), he was able to work my favourite song 'lucky' into a traditional piece and then provided the sheet music for the musicians on the day!
it was Derek at www.theadoringcrush.com, he's really worth a look as it was pretty inexpensive though there are many other composers out there who may be equally as good. |

| I found a song to walk to, but it runs over two min. and the walk is only about 45 seconds. Any thoughts of how to get around stopping CD abruptly or just standing there waiting for it to end. |

Gi and welcome to Foreverwed
the best way is to fade it out....
if you want only 45 or say a min of the song thats the best way to do it
if you know somone that can do it for you then go for it other wise who ever controls the volume on the day can also do that..
hope that helps |
