A program is simple to create. Basically, it is a large card. When opened, one side should list the order of the service and the other side should list the members of the wedding party. On the back cover, you can write a thank you to those who have been of particular help in planning the wedding, or place a photo of you and your groom,or leave it blank. Either on the front cover or at the top of the left inside page, you should state your name and the groom's and the wedding date and location. When listing the order of the service, you can be as detailed or as simple as you choose to be. If you know the pieces of music that will be played, you can list them. If you don't, don't worry about it. When listing the wedding party members, begin by giving the names of the parents, the name of the minister, and of the musician. Then, list the names and something about the members of the wedding party, such as "maid of honor - Susan Brown, college roommate of the bride." Your guests will be interested to know who the people are and how you relate to them. If you want to communicate something to your guests, you can do it at the end of the order of the service. You might communicate such things as, "Please remain seated until the ushers dismiss you," or "Please join us for a reception at the Bishop's House immediately following the ceremony," or "We have asked the photographer to take a group picture of all of our guests. Please join us in front of the church immediately after the ceremony." You can print the program yourself on your computer, or, if you don't want to use up your ink cartridge, have it printed at a quick copy center. Many of them are open 24 hours, so you can even take the program in after the rehearsal and pick it up the next morning.
