| I'm the stepmom of the groom. The wedding is Dec. 16 & is semi formal The bridesmaids are wearing a red/burgandy color. The mob & mog are wearing navy blue, alos the exact same dress(???) & are long sleeve & tea length, simple lines. Thank goodness I have not been included in that! Anyway, I was thinking I would wear a very simple, tea length dress with long sleeves but the color I want to wear is bright red. Is this color appropriate? Do't want to out do anyone. Please respond asap! Thanks! |

The style of dress that you suggest is fine but a color such as gray, silver, or dark green would be better than bright red. I do agree that it is a bit odd that the two mothers are wearing the same dress. Guests may think they are twins |

| Thanks so much for the quick reply! I was afraid you were going to suggest another color. I was also looking at same type of dress but in taupe. Would that work. Haven't seen any dresses in the colors you suggest. Also, what color shoes work with taupe of would I dye shoes to match? |

| Taupe would be an acceptable color. You might wear shoes in a medium shade of brown or something close to the color of the dress or slightly darker. Dyed shoes are rarely worn today, but you can go that route if you think you would wear the shoes in the future. |
