Hello!

A girlfriend of mine is getting married in January and, after she had picked her bridesmaids, met and became really close to me. So, as an "honorary bridesmaid" and because her MOH isn't really good with planning, she asked me to throw her Bachelorette Party. Which is really great, and, as I'm trying to get experience to become a party planner, a good time to gain experience, but I have a question:

I really don't think I can handle all the expense of the party on my own. Is it traditional for the other girls to chip in? Or only if I ask them to?

Another thing is, how do I go about asking? I realize it should be a simple thing, but it's hard for me to ask others for money from others to help out, just because I don't like for it to seem that I'm planning this great thing for them to attend, but only if they giv me money for it, you know? Especially considering I don't know two of the bridesmaids at all, I'm just not sure how to go about it respectfully...thoughts? Or am I just thinking too hard about this? Smile

Traditionally, each person pays for her own expenses for a bachelorette party then either you or the group pays for the bride's portion. Once you decide what you are going to do, the best thing to do is to send out a written invitation to everyone with all of the details, such as: "We will meet at___ at 6 p.m. The cost will be approximately XXX per person. If you would like to contribute toward the cost of (bride's name)'s share, please let me know." Be sure to include a phone number where they can reach you with any questions or to decline if they are unable to attend.
