I'm not sure that I understand exactly what you are asking. Are you interested in just the legalities and the costs of the wedding, or are you thinking of much more, such as the legal and financial issues involving your relationship as husband and wife? If you are thinking of the wedding ceremony itself, you must obtain a marriage license from your county clerk's office and the ceremony must be performed by someone who is licensed to perform wedding ceremonies. Other requirements vary by state. In some states, you must obtain a blood test or wait several days before the marriage license can be used.
As far as financial aspects, they can be as much or as little as you choose to spend. You can go to a judge's chambers to be married and it will cost very little. Or, you can have a big ceremony and reception. As far as who pays for the costs of the wedding, traditionally the bride's family paid for most of the costs. Today, however, the bride's family, groom's family, and the couple themselves usually all pay for a part of the expenses.
If you are thinking of the legal and financial aspects that will occur after marriage, that is something that you need to discuss with your fiance. It will depend in part on the laws of the state in which you reside (such as a community property state in which the couple equally share ownership of property acquired during the marriage). If you have concerns, you might want to talk with the minister who is performing the ceremony or, depending on the circumstances, seek the advice of an attorney.
