In our quest for lovely locks, we
sometimes neglect our scalps. Here's a simple treatment that cleanses, tones, and soothes
that delicate skin on your head, compliments of the John Barrett Salon in New York City.
You'll need four hair clips, a comb, a bowl, some olive oil, and a small jar of rosemary
oil, an emollient known for its skin-soothing properties.
1 Divide your hair into four equal-sized sections, first parting it from ear to
ear and then from front to back. Secure each of the sections with a clip.
2 In a bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of olive oil and 30 drops of rosemary oil. Dip
the tips of your fingers in the oil and gently rub them along the parts in your hair. Make
sure to saturate the exposed skin and rub the oils into the surrounding area.
3 Remove the clips and massage the oils into the rest of the scalp. Spread your
fingers and place the tips about an inch and a half above your ears. Delicately shift the
scalp from front to back. Move your hands forward and massage your temples with short
circular motions. Continue doing this as you work your way to the top of the head,
focusing on the crown. Slowly move down to the back of the head and progress to the nape
and upper neck. Use a regular shampoo to wash out any excess oil.
