What Tuxedo Coat should be worn in the year 2000?
In the year 2000
the biggest rule is that you are comfortable and like what you
choose. If you want to be very traditional, you might pick a
style other than the morning coat if your wedding is later in
the day. As you have read, morning coats have been
traditionally used in ceremonies taking place earlier in the
day. However, it would not be in terrible taste if that is
what your fiancé is comfortable with and if it looks good on
him, no matter what time of the day your wedding takes place.
You might look at some frock coats. Many are finding them to
be quite nice without being the same coat that every other
groom has worn. Recent tuxedo styles are starting to lean
toward 3 or 4 button coats. Some prefer the double breasted
styles Black is still the main color and, as always, the
classic look of the basic peak, notch, or shawl lapel is still
in fashion. Ask your tuxedo shop if they stock any of these or
similar styles.
TIPS:
If you want to match accessories with
bridesmaids’ dresses, bring a swatch with you if possible.
(what one person calls burgundy might be another person’s
maroon).
Shop around. The best price is not always
the best deal. Consider the reputation of the store as well as
service and selection. Does the store stock tuxedos?
Go to a tuxedo shop whose business is
men’s formal wear, rather than a store that has tuxedos as a
sideline. (you would not buy shoes at a hardware store just
because it was convenient). |
