Q.
I'm wanting to send out a
"save the date" card with my Holiday (x-mas)
cards this year. My wedding is in April, so I
need to send out the info since almost everyone
is traveling. I'm not sure of how to word the
card. Do you have any suggestions?
A.
Before preparing
the card, first check out hotels where
you can block rooms for your guests.
Then, on the card state your names and
the wedding date and where you have
blocked rooms for them to stay.
Something like the following should
work: "Jenny Jones and Steve Brown are
pleased to announce that they will be
married on April 10, 2002 in Anytown,
USA. Because you are an important part
of our lives, we look forward to your
presence at our wedding celebration. We
have blocked rooms for our guests at the
XYZ Hotel. Please call the hotel
directly at 1-800-000-0000 to reserve
your room. Be sure to mention that you
are with the Jones-Brown wedding." You
can add additional information if you
need to, but at this point, your primary
concern is to let your family and
friends know when the wedding will occur
and where they can stay while in town.

Advice:
We would like to send out wedding announcements to our friends
that will not be at the wedding. We thought that including a
wallet-size wedding picture would be nice. However, the
pictures will not be developed until a month after the
wedding. Is this too late to send the announcements out? |
| |
Advice:
should the announcements be just from the newly weds or from
the parents like the invitations? Should they include the
elopement date and place? Since they do not receive mail at
their home, should only their PO box be mentioned; if so, how? |
| |
Advice:
We are having a private family wedding. After the wedding we
will send wedding announcements. How do we word our return
address? |
| |
Advice:
I would like to announce the engagement of my son and his
fianc้ to friends and old neighbors who I haven't spoken to
in a while. This does not mean that they will be invited to a
wedding, (cost prohibitive,) it's simply to let them know that
they are engaged. Is this proper? |
| |
Advice:
The Groom's father is deceased. We would like to include
groom's father's name. is it better to include "at home card"
or just state"...now reside at.." |

If we are not inviting anyone, is it appropriate to send out
wedding announcements? If we have to, how do we write the
announcements? |

Advice:
We cannot invite all of our friends to the wedding and
reception. Are announcements for friends and family who live
far away (an acceptable thing to do?) Are announcements for
friends who live in the vicinity of the church rude? When
should announcements be sent out? |
| |
Advice:
Wording: Las Vegas Wedding:
We are having a reception one week later in our home town.
People are more than welcome to join us in Las Vegas, but I
don't want them to feel like we are asking them, but the
option is there. I was wondering if I should include the
wedding ceremony information as well as the reception
information. |

Advice:

We are sending them to people we could not quite afford to
invite to our wedding. I am keeping my maiden name. Can you
give us any suggestions? |
