*Traditionally,
the best man is a brother, relative or best friend
of the groom. Choose someone who is dependable and
can help with organizing things as well as
offering moral support. It doesn't matter if the
best man is single or married.
Advance Help
*The best man hosts and coordinates the
bachelor party for the groom.
*The groom
delegates fitting sessions for ushers and
groomsmen to best man so that he is the only has
to be concerned about his own fitting session.
*The best man
attends pre-wedding parties.
*He attends the
rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
* He picks up the
groom's formal wear prior to the wedding.

handles the toasts at eh rehearsal dinner.

At the Wedding

the groom or proceeds ahead of the groom. He walks
with the maid of honor in the recessional.

responsible for safe keeping of the bride's
wedding ring until it is time for blessing and
exchange of the rings.
*He helps to
organize groomsmen for formal photographs.
At the
Reception
*The best man stands next to the bride in a
very formal or formal reception line.
*The best man is
seated at the head table or a table of honor.
*He mingles with
the guest at he reception.
*He dances with
the bride and with the maid of honor.
*The best man is
in charge of toasting during the reception. If
there are any special greetings to be read (From
those unable to attend), He reads these to the
couple

assists the groom with the tossing of the garter
by encouraging the single men to take part in the
activity.

*The best man pays for his own formal wear and
accessories.

expenses are involved, he pays his own way, to the
wedding, as well as hotel costs if necessary while
he is in town.
*Although he may
attend several pre-wedding parties, only one
shower gift and one and one wedding gift is
expected.
*He may cover the
costs of the bachelor party or share them with the
other groomsmen.
