Thank you notes are sent out in response to any gift (engagement, shower, wedding) you receive. The thank you notes can match your invitation or be of a simpler design. You can get the notes with an imprinted verse, but etiquette dictates that you should write a personal response to each gift you receive. You can also get your thank you notes with your married names imprinted. Again, these cannot be used until after you are officially married.

June 23, 2002

Dear Mr. Porter,

Thank you so very much for the attractive crystal glasses that you gave us in honor of our wedding. We are thrilled by your generosity. We plan on using the new glasses in our poolroom.

Again, Thank you for your kindness.

All thank you notes must be personal and handwritten. 

Notes can be short and sweet, but they should be warm and personal.  Each one includes:

• A Date

• A Salutation (addressed exactly as it appears on the gift enclosure card)

• A Message, which expresses appreciation, mentions the gift itself, and actually says "Thank You"; a statement on how the gift will be used, and the inclusion of your fiancés name and yours are a nice touch

• A closing, using such terms as Love, Fondly, Sincerely, or Affectionately
