Gentle Hands Potpourri Holder
By Wyla Laces
submitted by http://www.sewing.org/

Wait! Don't discard those flower buds, pick them, dry them and place them in your hands. A great way to save the buds from a very special day. Brides can always carry their wedding bouquets, new Mom's can always hold the flowers they received when that new addition arrived. Mom's and Grandmother's can keep the springs that loved ones share with them.

  • 1 1/4" yd twisted cord
  • 1 tassel
  • 10" x 40" flat piece all over lace
  • 3 yds 1/8" ribbon
  • Four 1' ribbon roses
  • Ten 6"mm pearls

2. Fold 10" x 40" all over lace to 10" x 20". Lay out both hand patterns, pin into place and cut 2 of each hand.

3. Stitch with right sides together leaving an opening at the wrist. Turn, placing the seams on the insides of the glove.

4. Fill each hand tightly with potpourri.

5. Cut ruffled lace into 2 1/2" yard pieces and gather each with 1/2 yd of 1/8" ribbon.

6. Tie each piece of lace tightly around each wrist to form a ruffed cuff. Tie ribbon ends into a bow. Spot glue cuffs to wrist to hold.

7. Cut remaining ribbon into four 1/2-yd pieces. Tie each into a bow and glue 2 bows each onto hands at center front of each wrist.

8. Cut pearls in half and glue a pear loop onto each hand below bows.

9. Glue 2 ribbon roses over bows and pearl loop.

10. Glue each end of twisted cord deep into wrist.

11. Tie center of twisted cord to form a hanger loop.

12. Glue 3" tassel to loop to finish.
