Who should we invite to the shower?  When should we hold it? is there a specific time to hold the shower?

Invite immediate female family members of both the bride & groom's family, as well as, close friends of the bride and the wedding party.

You may want to consult with the bride when making up the invitation list. Everyone going to the shower should go to the wedding. This will avoid a lot of hurt feelings and mis-understandings. However, in retrospect, everyone invited to the wedding does not have to be invited to the shower.

In answering the second part of your question:  A Great time for the shower would be 1-2 months before the wedding. However, this may be a very busy time for the bride, so be sure to consult the bride when setting the date.
